Some of my fav pics from our trip down to Florida. ☀️ A lot of folks called me crazy for driving with two young ones (mostly Casey), considering the cost to fly being fairly reasonable, especially if timed well. I considered it a rite of passage. ✅ I put a lot of thought into it during those long driving hours and wanted to share my top two tips in a blog format for others considering driving with a 3.5 year old and 2 year old 20 hours straight so you too can have a great drive and vacation. 🏰 Dans Blog Of Top Tips For Enjoying Your Drive and Trip To Florida! 👙 Tip #1 Don’t drive Tip #2 Fly The End 😃 All jokes aside… it’s not that bad. Primary driver needs a good 2-3 hour rest midway then finishes the drive. Pre plan your stops so you don’t waste time pulling into a complete dump (no pun intended) to use the facilities. Get a good nights rest before you go and avoid Atlanta anyway possible although it isn’t possible so suffer through it like the rest of us. Back to work we go 🕺 The actual end 😃

COLDEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR! 🥶 February 24th is a day to support the youth in our communities. Together with thousands of Canadians across the country, I'll be running 5km and fundraising to support people and families experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness in my community. @37frankyouthcafe is an absolute pillar in our community. The support they provide to youth is an incredible service. Being 3 doors down, my office sits steps away from their facility and I see daily the impact they make and it is HUGE. This year my goal is to raise $1000. I am hoping my friends, colleagues, family and peers will help me. I will match every dollar up to $500 to reach this goal, and hope you will help me get there. Merry Christmas Eve Facebook world! 🎅 I wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who jumped in to help out at the third annual Christmas At Playmore. There were a bunch of nominations over the last month and the hardest part each year is not being able to do something for everyone. Well that was a fun one! 🚜 Just like that… 235 William St is SOLD after 2 days on the market! 🎈 Congratulations to my clients on a quick and successful sale just in time for the holidays… this one felt good! These folks had met with another agent who’d recommended they list $50,000 less and not do anything because “you won’t get anymore money”…. When we sat down I laid out a plan with partners I have across different industries to help them prepare their home. With a small investment and in days we were able to make this place shine 10X better. Some junk removal and decluttering, a day with a tractor, bush-hog and my father in laws skid steer plus some elbow grease, and we were easily able to get these folks well over what this other agent had said “won’t be worth your time”. Truth be told there are levels to this. A lot of agents don’t want to do the work. They don’t have the connections, drive, experience or knowledge. Longer post but want to show some love and gratitude this Christmas as we have each year, so bare with me. 🤗 I’m so grateful for all of my family, friends, business partners, and the folks who trust me to help them with their Real Estate needs. 💦 WATER DAMAGE 💦 Let’s talk about insurance claims for a minute and a recent client experience… We’ve had A LOT of rain recently. Some areas like Glencoe and West Lorne experienced amounts they’ve not seen in years. My sellers called me to evaluate their property to prepare for sale after the recent downpours and had about 2” of water and sewage backup in their basement. The house is located higher up in the area and is graded well. A freak occurrence some might say. Insurance sent a company to remediate and remove drywall and trim. There is still existing flooring and a shower stall that they intended to make their clients keep. When I met my sellers, I told them to push back. The floors and shower stall should be replaced as well. Long story short, insurance sent someone back and confirmed these things also needed replacing. HUGE WIN. My clients now get new floors, drywall, trim, doors, and a bathroom, instead of simply replacing the 2’ of drywall cutout. That’s a newly finished basement! 🥳 Insurance companies need to keep claims at a minimum to remain profitable, unfortunately to the detriment of their clients. The moral of the story: There’s no harm in asking! Push back!!! The worst they can say is NO! HOMETOWN FEST STRATHROY! 🦃 Coming up Fathers Day Weekend 2023! In excitement and anticipation for this, I have gathered some really exciting historical info, content, photos etc and am going to share over the next few days. Now, a bit of background: Boys & Girls Reunion turned Homecoming Turned Turkey Fest turned Hometown Fest! Nostalgia, reminiscence, memories; these are some words that come to mind when you think of Reunions, Turkey Fest and Hometown Fest. It's all about coming home to reconnect with family and friends! This idea of creating a homecoming type festival started in August 1895 when a number of people who had moved away, wanted to reconnect; hence the creation of the Old Boys and Girls Reunion. The first one was in Toronto in 1895, but moved to Strathroy by 1897. This festival was a long weekend full of events and activities including a grand banquet at the Lyceum Theatre. Both 1919 and 1930 saw two other similar large gatherings. Forty years later a new festival was created with a similar design, Homecoming, which quickly morphed into Turkey Fest in 1978. Activities included turkey racing, egg-rolling contests, street dances, turkey barbecues, and a mini-carnival. Rebranded to "Hometown Fest" in 2017, the festival continues to be full of community-oriented activities, bringing residents and visitors to the area for a weekend of fun, reminiscing, and hometown cheer.
